So you've made it to the land of the rising sun! Now what

Luckily for you this Blog has compiled some of the best activities Japan has to offer

Kawaii Monster Cafe

Unleash your immaturity at the Kawaii Monster Cafe! This Cafe hosts a creative, colourful and truly out of this world experience. It is located in the Harajuku district of Tokyo and includes a 1000 yen entry fee.

With rainbow dyed food and decor beyond your imagination its definitely worth hanging around until after 9pm, where you might just get to see the comical drag show and midget strippers. Definitely a place to check off the bucket list!

  • I recommend ringing up and booking one of the decorated booths which will provide more privacy, better views of the show and an even crazier eating experience!

Snow Monkeys

The Snow Monkey Park of Japan is a worldwide tourist attraction, and for good reason too. In the winter months you'll find dozens of monkeys keeping out of the freezing temperatures by bathing in the hot springs found at the park.

A cheap bus ticket from Nagano Station can take you to the entrance. From there, you'll experience a tranquil, breathtaking walk to the monkeys' location (800yen entry fee).

Ensure that you arrive before 1400hrs for the best experience as the Monkeys retreat up the mountain from 1500hrs. Also note that the walk is 2 km long so ensure you pack:

  • warm jacket

  • beanie

  • pair of gloves

Mori Art Tower

Inside Tokyo's famous Mori Art Tower, located in the the Roppongi district, you will be able to experience the best panoramic view Tokyo has to offer. Marvel at the Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, Mt Fuji and more at 250 metres above Starbucks. If you're game and wish to feel the wind, step outside and experience the thrill of the Sky Deck which offers unobstructed access to the city.

Whilst checking out the view, why not explore the Mori Art Museum. Access to this contemporary/seasonal gallery is included in the 1800 yen entry fee to the building.

My best advice for your day in Roppongi includes,

  • Shake Shack - For the best shakes and burgers in the area

  • Clear day - Double and Triple check that you go only on a clear day.

  • Day or night - It depends on your schedule, both are incredible. Check out the website that I've linked below, it includes photos from both times of day.

Mario Kart!

In your time in Tokyo you will see Mario and his friends cruising around the city!

It's an unbelievable sight, and is open to the public!

Just ensure you've got an International Driver's Licence and 2,700 yen (1hr) to experience yet another once in a lifetime memory in Tokyo. It's the only place in the world you'll have the opportunity to bring Nintendo to life!

Whilst travelling in Japan, it is also essential that you check out

  • Sumo Wrestling

  • Cherry Blossoms

  • Pet Stores (Make sure you do this, any pet store will do)

  • Animal Cafe's
